Machining Rules for Magnesium Alloys

A complete machining procedure should include the following:

1. Cutting tools should be kept sharp and have a larger relief angle and clearance angle; do not use blunt, chipped or cracked tools.

2. Under normal circumstances, try to use a large feed rate for processing, and avoid using a small feed rate to generate larger chips.

3. Don’t let the tool stop on the workpiece.

4. When using a small amount of cutting, use mineral oil coolant to reduce cooling.

5. If there is a steel core lining in the magnesium alloy part, be careful to collide with the tool to generate sparks.

6. Keep the environment tidy and clean.

7. Smoking, lighting and welding are strictly prohibited in the machining work area.

8. Sufficient class D fire extinguishing equipment should be stored in the working area
